Destination set 3

This is the 3rd (last set) of business cards that I collected at the Destination Show. There were some organisations that were not tour oriented, such as charities, for instance. Laughing Out Loud is a laughter therapy group! Football For Fun give football coaching for children, and also donate footballs to African countries. On a more serious note, there is Teenage Cancer Trust. During lunch I met someone from Craft Central.

Destination set 1

Today I went to Destination Holiday and Travel Show in London, a tour and travel show in London, and collected many business cards! There was a wonderful atmosphere at the place, full of tourists and adventurers! Here is a selection of set 1. There are two more sets, and soon on my website (to be announced). From a Yachtman

And here are some nice business cards from my stepfather, a right proper yachtman. He is Commodore of "Blind at Sea". And yes, he has circumnavigated the globe. Thank you! (Click on image for larger view)

From a Yachtwoman

My mother with her husband had circumnavigated the globe in an ocean ketch, and here are some business cards from marinas. The cards from Abu Tig Marina and Port Ghlaib Marina are both from Egypt and has Roman script on one side and Arabic script on the other. Marina Zea is in Greece, and there is a green business card from a dry cleaner in Eritrea! Click on images for larger view.

Celebrating my 50th Birthday!

Hello! Here is the first of several blogs, as I went away for a week to celebrate my 50th birthday! I am reasonably healthy, and hope to live to 100!

I ate with one brother at the Golden Dragon chinese restaurant in London, on the 25th January, then on the 27th January my actual birthday, at with my other brother at Gurkha, a nepalese restaurant in Falmouth, Cornwall.

Haywards Heath Walkabout

I went on walkabouts in Haywards Heath today, and received a small number of business cards with a swap of my personal collectors business card (the one with the green dragon).

The Art of Tropical Living

Today I looked around a shop in Haywards Heath, called "The Art of Tropical Living", which is a gift shop of items from Bali. There were a small number of colourful business cards inside, which I collected. Here are four of them. Note that the "Happy Hands" card has a reflective picture which showed up dark after being scanned. In fact its light and shiny. Click on image for larger view:--

Beautiful business cards from Ohio USA

Today, I received yet another welcome pack from another Lizz Gonzalez, IBCC member #269. Many of these cards are works of art and especially appreciated was one with an unusual shape of a curved edges and no sharp corners (Sugarsmack).

Wooden Business Card

Usually business cards are made from 250-400 gsm silk artboard. This one I received in a welcome pack from a Polish business card collector, is made from wood! He is Boguslaw Macal, IBCC #341, and has his own website where a selection from his collection is displayed. He specialises in Victoria era business cards (1837-1901):--
